Windsor clean-up days exclude mixed recycling, hazardous waste and electronics

Accepted items include household trash, yard waste, branches and some appliances; residents must unload their own materials. Replacement entry vouchers are available at town facilities, and valid ID can be used at the event.

Windsor’s 2026 Fall Clean-Up Days, scheduled for Oct. 9 and 10, will not accept general household mixed recycling, hazardous waste or electronics.

The event will accept general household trash, yard and garden waste, branches, tree limbs up to four inches in diameter and grass clippings. Scrap metal, up to four vehicle tires without rims — no commercial truck or tractor tires — and stoves, ovens, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, grills and bicycles are also accepted. The event will not accept mixed household recycling such as paper and cardboard, hazardous waste, electronics, propane tanks or gas cylinders, or refrigerators and other appliances containing freon. Other excluded items include construction debris such as dirt, cement and pavers; commercial or agricultural tires; wooden pallets; vehicles; lightbulbs; non-recyclable glass such as cut glass, mirrors, porcelain, ceramics and window glass; animal carcasses; and mattresses or large furniture.

The event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Windsor’s Public Services Facility, 922 N. 15th St. An entry voucher is printed on the back page of the fall Windsor Matters magazine, which was mailed to all Windsor residents. Replacement vouchers are available during regular business hours at Windsor Town Hall, 301 Walnut St.; the Public Services facility, 922 N. 15th St.; the Windsor Police Department, 960 N. 15th St.; the Community Development Center, 200 N. 11th St.; and the Community Recreation Center, 250 11th St. Residents who need a replacement voucher may bring valid identification, such as a driver’s license or a copy of a previous utility bill, to the event.

Residents can drive up and leave materials at the corresponding stations, but they are responsible for unloading their own items. The town’s notice says Larimer and Weld County residents can dispose of hazardous household waste at designated sites: the Larimer County Recycling Center, 5887 S. Taft Hill Rd. in Fort Collins, and the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 1311 N. 17th Ave. in Greeley. Both facilities provide disposal options intended to keep hazardous materials such as batteries, paint and gasoline out of landfills and waterways.
