Weld County plan draft expected for resident review this fall
The document is meant to guide land-use and development decisions in unincorporated areas for the next decade and beyond, and will provide direction for a zoning code update planned for 2027.
Weld County expects to make a draft of its new Comprehensive Plan available for residents to review later this fall.
Creating a new Comprehensive Plan is one of the department’s biggest projects in 2026, the county said. The plan will help guide land use and development decisions in unincorporated Weld County over the next 10 years and beyond.
Weld County plans to update its Zoning Code in 2027. The code provides rules for how land in unincorporated areas can be used and developed. The new Comprehensive Plan will provide direction for the update.
“Planning affects the places where people live, work, travel and do business every day,” Planning Services Director David Eisenbraun said. The county says planning helps shape decisions about land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, businesses and natural resources. It also helps balance growth with the needs of existing communities and Weld County’s rural character.
