Weather permitting, US 34 to face intermittent weekday lane reductions near Mall Road Oct. 6-16
The town says crews will install a 12-inch water main beneath the highway, with flaggers directing alternating traffic. All lanes are scheduled to be open on weekends, and drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
Weather permitting, traffic on US 34 near the intersection with Mall Road will be intermittently reduced to one lane on weekdays from Tuesday, Oct. 6, through Friday, Oct. 16, the Town of Estes Park said. The town says crews will install a new 12-inch water main beneath the highway.
Work will begin no earlier than 7 a.m. and end no later than 7 p.m., the town said. All lanes will be open each weekend during the work period, according to the town.
Traffic will alternate lanes under the control of flaggers and signage, the town said. Drivers are asked to follow traffic-control directions at the construction site, and the town advises alternate routes during construction.
The Town of Estes Park says the work is part of its Mall Road Looping Project. The town says the project is installing a new water line from Joel Estes Drive along Mall Road and beneath the Big Thompson River. According to the town, the line will cross US 34 and connect to existing Town water lines. The town says completing the loop will improve water quality and help keep water pressure steady for homes and businesses in the northeastern part of its water service area.
