Union Pacific train kills man in Greeley, police say

Police tentatively identified him as 36; the coroner’s office will release his name after notifying next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information can contact Officer Garrett Casperson.

A northbound Union Pacific train struck and killed a man in Greeley, Greeley police said.

Greeley police officers responded at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, to railroad tracks south of the Highway 34/Highway 85 interchange after reports that a train had struck a person walking. Medical personnel responded, and the person, tentatively identified as a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after next-of-kin notification, according to the Greeley Police Department release.
