Driver strikes woman riding e-scooter, seriously injuring her in Greeley, police say
Police say the 25-year-old rider was expected to survive and the driver was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing; no charges had been filed against the rider, and the driver is not facing charges.
A driver struck a 25-year-old woman riding an e-scooter as she crossed 16th Street at 12th Avenue in Greeley on Friday, seriously injuring her, the Greeley Police Department said.
Greeley Police Department officers responded to the collision at 12th Avenue and 16th Street at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. According to the department’s preliminary investigation, a 25-year-old woman was riding an e-scooter south on 12th Avenue while crossing 16th Street. A 21-year-old woman driving a westbound Subaru sedan struck her, the department said. The rider sustained serious injuries but was expected to survive, and the Subaru driver was not injured, the department said.
The department’s preliminary investigation says the rider failed to yield to oncoming traffic while crossing 16th Street. No charges had been filed against the rider at the time of the Sept. 29 release, though charges may be pending following the investigation’s outcome, the department said. The Subaru driver is not facing charges. The department said its investigation remained ongoing.
