Weld County accepts $3.5 million FAA grant for airport taxiway
Construction of Taxiway B alongside runway 10/28 is expected to begin later this month and finish by year’s end. The work is part of a larger taxiway and runway expansion backed by county and city funding.
The Weld County Board of Commissioners accepted a $3.5 million Federal Aviation Administration grant to build an additional taxiway at Greeley-Weld County Airport, the county said in a Sept. 16 news release.
The project will construct Taxiway B alongside runway 10/28, which is just over 5,800 feet long and 100 feet wide. Work is expected to begin later this month and be completed by the end of the year.
“We’re pleased to have federal support in a project we believe will be beneficial for years to come,” said Kevin Ross, a Weld County commissioner and chair of the Greeley-Weld Airport Authority.
The grant is part of an ongoing partnership among Weld County, the City of Greeley, the Greeley-Weld Airport Authority and federal officials. In 2026, the county and city each pledged an additional $5 million for the remainder of the Echo Bravo Taxiway Complex and its associated runway. The airport also received three FAA grants totaling nearly $4 million this year, according to the county.
