Evans Heritage Day set for Sept. 19 at City Park and Riverside Park
The free celebration runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., then returns from 5 to 8:30 p.m. for music, food, a beer and spirits garden and fireworks. The 5K costs $25 through July 30, with higher fees later, and allows vaccinated, leashed dogs.
The City of Evans said Heritage Day will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, with activities at City Park and Riverside Park. The free event will include a 5K, pancake breakfast, parade, food trucks, vendors, family activities, live music and fireworks.
Activities at City Park, 3929 Golden St., will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. at Riverside Park and is presented by Balanced Movement to benefit Canine Community Heroes, a Northern Colorado nonprofit that supports service and therapy dogs. The breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m., while supplies last, followed by the parade at 10 a.m. Food trucks, vendors and family amusements will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will move to Riverside Park, 4000 Riverside Parkway, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Evening activities will include food trucks, family amusements and a beer and spirits garden featuring 477 Distilling, Crabtree Brewing Company, TightKnit Brewing and Yetters Brewing Company. Duey & Unbroken will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
The 5K allows vaccinated, leashed, friendly dogs, with one dog permitted per participant. Registration costs $25 through July 30, $35 for general registration and $45 on event day; check-in opens 30 minutes before the start. The 5K page says all proceeds support service-dog programs. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the free event.
