Evans council to review proposed 2027 budget at Sept. 15 work session
The fifth work session will examine revenue assumptions, staffing, capital priorities and utility rates as staff finalizes recommendations. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
The Evans City Council will continue reviewing the proposed 2027 city budget during a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, the city said. The meeting will be the council’s fifth work session on developing the budget.
The session will cover updates to revenue assumptions, personnel costs, projected supplies and services costs, capital priorities, and enterprise fund operations and rates. The council also will review a citywide budget summary, with a focus on the General Fund, as city staff finalizes recommendations before formal consideration.
The proposed General Fund budget has a balanced operational budget, with projected revenues exceeding operating expenses by approximately $641,000. Citywide, the proposal anticipates approximately $62.2 million in revenue and $66.5 million in expenses, with projected year-end fund balances totaling approximately $74.9 million.
The city said the difference between citywide revenues and expenses includes planned use of existing fund balances for capital projects, deferred infrastructure maintenance and other improvements. Proposed investments include street pavement and reconstruction, streetlights, street widening, equipment replacement, non-potable water system improvements, drainage and water infrastructure, and continued expansion of the wastewater treatment plant.
