Fort Collins sets public safety technology showcase for Sept. 17
Fort Collins will host a Sept. 17 public safety technology showcase at the Senior Center, where residents can question city departments about surveillance tools, data privacy and transparency as officials develop a related policy.
The City of Fort Collins will host a Public Safety Technology Showcase on Thursday, Sept. 17, to discuss surveillance technology, data privacy and transparency, the city said.
The event will feature a panel presentation from Police Services, FC911, Light & Power, GIS and Information Technology. Community members can ask questions about how the city uses public safety technology and how it may be used in the future.
The city is developing a policy to guide the use and management of surveillance technology. The policy will address accountability, transparency, data management, privacy and oversight of the technology and data collected.
The showcase will be held at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and light refreshments will be available.
