Mead police say juvenile in custody after reported vehicle trespass and confrontation

Mead police took a juvenile into custody after officers responded to a reported trespass at a business in the 4000 block of South Valley Drive on Sept. 5, according to a department news release. The call came at about 10:55 p.m.

Officers learned that the juvenile had allegedly entered an unattended vehicle parked on the property. During a confrontation with people at the scene, an adult male sustained serious bodily injury, police said.

Officers located the juvenile near the scene and gave multiple commands to surrender. According to the initial investigation, the juvenile did not comply and displayed threatening behavior toward a responding officer. After a brief struggle, officers took the juvenile into custody.

The adult male and juvenile were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. After medical clearance, officers took the juvenile to the Platte Valley Juvenile Detention Center. Police are investigating whether the incident may be related to a similar incident previously reported at the same location. The department is asking anyone with information that may assist investigators with either case to call 720-652-4222 and reference case number 26ML00481 or 26ML00419. The juvenile’s identity was not released.
