Windsor art display returns for second season at Windsor Lake

The Windsor Arts Commission, with support from the town’s Culture Division, will launch the second season of Sculpture on Loan in Windsor on Sept. 5 at Windsor Lake, according to a town news release.

The inaugural season ends Aug. 23, when seven sculptures that have been on display since last summer will be replaced with seven new works selected by the commission. The town said the new sculptures will be covered with tarps after installation and remain covered until they are unveiled at the opening celebration.

The town’s Sculpture on Loan program was developed in 2025 to enhance the Dr. Tom Jones Trail around Windsor Lake. According to the town’s Sculpture on Loan page, the first installations were placed between Boardwalk Park and the lake’s northwest corner, and the works are rotated annually.

Community members are invited to tour the newly installed sculptures from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 5 along the west side of Windsor Lake on the Dr. Tom Jones Trail. After the unveiling, attendees can vote for their favorite sculpture, and the town says voting for the 2025-2026 best in show is already open on the program’s webpage.

According to the town, the artist behind the winning sculpture will receive a $750 cash prize. The town’s Sculpture on Loan page also lists the seven works in the 2025-26 season, including pieces by Sean Yarbrough, Collette Pitcher, Charlotte Zink, Reno Carollo, Kevin W. Shaffer, Jodie Bliss and Sandy Friedman.
