Greeley opens public comment on housing plan update

Greeley is asking residents to weigh in on an updated housing needs assessment and Housing Action Plan, with public open houses scheduled later this month and an online survey available through the city’s project page, according to a city news release.

The effort, called At Home in Greeley, will evaluate current and future housing needs and help guide strategies to expand housing, improve affordability and support residents over the next five to 10 years. City officials said feedback will help determine the types, sizes and costs of housing needed in the coming years.

Two open houses are scheduled for Aug. 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at LINC Library, 501 8th Avenue, and Aug. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Avenue. Residents who cannot attend can complete the survey online through the project page.

Kaileen Whaley, the city’s housing incentive manager, said in the release that as Greeley grows, it is important to understand changing needs. The city is partnering with Interval, LLC, on the assessment and plan, and the work is funded in part by a grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.
