Loveland completes reservoir oxygen system installation
The City of Loveland says its Water Division has completed installation of a new oxygenation system at Green Ridge Glade Reservoir as part of a multiyear effort to improve water quality and strengthen the city’s water supply.
According to a city news release posted during National Water Quality Month, the system adds oxygen to deeper areas of the reservoir. City officials said that can help reduce nutrient availability, limit algae that cause taste and odor issues, and decrease the potential for discolored water.
The city said the upgrade may also reduce treatment needs and costs while increasing the amount of reservoir water available for use.
In the release, the city thanked the teams that work to protect water resources and said the path to drinking water begins long before it reaches customers’ taps.
