Greeley begins downtown infrastructure upgrades on 7th Avenue

The City of Greeley says work has begun on downtown infrastructure improvements, with the first active construction on 7th Avenue between 9th and 10th streets.

In a press release, the city described the broader effort as covering nearly 20 downtown blocks. Officials said the project will replace utilities that are more than 100 years old.

According to the city, the work includes more than one mile of stormwater pipe, 1.3 miles of stormwater box culverts, and more than two miles of water, sewer and non-potable mains. The city said the stormwater portion is intended to help manage a 100-year storm event.

The city’s project page says construction is starting in summer 2026 and is being phased to keep downtown open and accessible. It also says final design is at 90% and that future phases are planned beyond 2028.
