Loveland gives unified parks, library and cultural division a new name

Loveland has renamed its combined parks and recreation, library and cultural services division the Community Placemaking Department, according to a city news release.

The department now brings together Cultural Services, the Library and Parks & Recreation under one structure, the city said.

Director Kara Kish said the department’s new identity captures its mission of providing lifelong access to connections and experiences. The city said the change is intended to reflect how the three areas are organized and work together.

According to the city’s Community Placemaking webpage, the department includes open lands, recreation, arts, history and learning programs. The page says Cultural Services, the Library and Parks & Recreation are unified under one department.

The webpage also says the department’s PLACE acronym stands for providing lifelong access to connections and experiences, connecting residents and visitors to nature, knowledge and learning, play, history, health and well-being.
