Loveland budget process heads toward fall council review

Loveland officials say the city’s annual budget process is moving toward fall council review and final adoption, with the 2027 budget due to be published by year’s end.

According to a city news release, the process begins each January with analysis, department planning and reviews of proposed workplans and budgets. By midyear, Finance staff have met with every department multiple times.

The next public step comes in late August, when City Council holds a budget workshop to review recommendations for balancing the coming budget and to hear about successes, gaps and challenges. Staff then refine the proposal, and Council may hold a September work session if more review is needed.

The updated budget is then presented to Council during two regular meetings in October and is adopted after two consecutive approvals, the city said. The release said the process is intended to balance expenses and revenues while maintaining essential services.

The city said the budget is published on its website by year’s end.
