Fort Collins transit overhaul starts Aug. 17

Fort Collins' Transfort bus network will change Aug. 17 as the city implements a newly optimized transit plan that adds more frequent service on several routes, changes routing on others and eliminates some lines, according to the city.

The city said all routes, including MAX, FLEX, HORN, GOLD and the Foothills Shuttle, will remain fare-free. The changes follow the Transfort Optimization Plan, which the city said was finalized after public engagement and data analysis.

Under the new schedule, Routes 3, 8, 31, HORN, MAX and the Foothills Shuttle will run every 20 minutes or better. Routes 2, 5, 9, 14, 19 and 81 will run every 30 minutes, while Routes 6, 7, 16 and 18 will run hourly. Routes 2, 3, 8 and 81 will have significant routing changes, and Routes 7, 16 and the Foothills Shuttle will have minor routing changes.

The city said Routes 10, 11, 12, 32 and 92 will be eliminated, Sunday bus service will end and Bus Stop to Bus Stop service will no longer be available. Holiday service will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on select routes: MAX, 2, 3, 8, 14, 16 and 81.

Changes also are coming to Dial-A-Ride paratransit service. The city said Sunday service will end, Dial-A-Taxi vouchers will decrease to $15 in value and the Dial-A-Taxi service area will expand. Existing clients who fall outside the new Dial-A-Ride service area will keep their eligibility for door-to-door service.
