Motorcyclist seriously injured in Fort Collins crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday in a crash at South College Avenue and East Harvard Street, according to Fort Collins police.

Police said 911 was notified at about 2:07 p.m. on July 30 of a collision between a 2016 Toyota Rav4 and a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle rider, an adult man, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the Rav4 was traveling south on South College Avenue and began a left turn east onto East Harvard Street when it collided in the intersection with the northbound motorcycle. Police said they are still working to determine who had the right-of-way and whether speed was a factor.

The Fort Collins Police CRASH Team responded to investigate because of the severity of the collision. The roadway was closed for about five hours while investigators processed the scene.

Sgt. David Lindsay, who oversees the CRASH Team, said investigators are working to determine what led up to the crash. Police asked anyone with information who has not already spoken with investigators to call Officer Scott Maher.
