Centennial Village Museum plans 50th anniversary birthday bash Aug. 1

Centennial Village Museum will mark its 50th anniversary with a community celebration on Colorado Day, according to the City of Greeley.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, from noon to 6 p.m. at the museum, 1475 A St. The city said the celebration will include food trucks, live music, hands-on crafts and other family activities.

Community partners listed for the event include The Davis Family Farm, The Ginger Cat, High Plains Library District, Friends of the Greeley Museums, High Plains Chautauqua, the Northern Colorado Lace Guild, City of Greeley Recreation and City of Greeley Water and Sewer.

Admission prices are $8 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6 for youth ages 7 to 17 and seniors 60 and older, and free for children 6 and under and for Greeley Museums for All participants using SNAP, EBT or ETC. A family admission for three to five members is $20.

Centennial Village opened in 1976 and preserves and interprets western heritage in the Colorado high plains region. The museum says the village has more than 35 historic buildings on eight acres, including the Original Weld County Courthouse, a blacksmith shop, historic homes and farm buildings, Rattlesnake Kate’s House, a one-room schoolhouse and the Weld Centennial Church.
