Shields Street closures set for July 6-31 in Fort Collins

South Shields Street will face lane shifts and then a full closure between West Mountain Avenue and West Mulberry Street from July 6-31 while the city installs protected bike lanes and completes utility work tied to the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project, according to the city of Fort Collins.

The city said lane shifts on Shields in the work area are expected from July 6-19, followed by a full closure of Shields from Mountain to Mulberry from July 20-31 for utility work.

During the full closure, residents on Shields north of West Olive Street will be able to access their homes from West Oak Street, while residents south of Olive will be able to access their homes from West Magnolia Street, the city said.

Drivers are being asked to follow posted detour routes and use Taft Hill Road or College Avenue to avoid the closure. The city said typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., though work may occur outside those times or on weekends to speed the project.
