Installation begins on MultiGolfPark at Knolls Linear Park
Construction began last week on a MultiGolfPark at Knolls Linear Park, 3803 Mt Oxford St. in Wellington, according to a town news release.
The course is on the west side of 3rd Street and will include nine holes of MultiGolf, which combines disc golf, foot golf and park golf on one compact course. The Wellington course has a total distance of 1,790 feet, with an average hole length of 195 feet. The longest hole is 235 feet and the shortest is 135 feet.
Town officials said the course will include six fully accessible holes once completed. The release said Wellington’s MultiGolfPark is the first in Colorado.
Mayor Rebekka Dailey said the project marks “a new chapter for recreation in Wellington” and that the town has “a deep connection to the disc golf community.” Parks and Recreation Director Billy Cooksey said the course was designed by Avery Jenkins, the 2009 Disc Golf World Champion and a three-time U.S. distance champion, and that town Parks and Recreation and Public Works crews are installing it.
The town said installation will be completed later this summer, including artificial turf over the concrete bases of the greens and tee pads. The course is open during regular park hours while work continues, but players use it at their own risk.
