Fort Collins to mark Parks and Recreation Month with events in July

The City of Fort Collins will join the National Recreation and Park Association in celebrating Parks and Recreation Month in July with a series of activities at parks and recreation facilities across the city.

According to the city, events will include an ongoing scavenger hunt at The Farm, an outdoor movie screening at Collindale Golf Course and free days at recreation centers. The city also plans its annual Kids in the Park event at Twin Silo Community Park on July 31.

The recreation department’s event page says the month’s schedule also includes Community Free Days at Northside Aztlan Community Center, The Farm and Mulberry Pool, and a movie night at the golf course showing The Sandlot. It says Kids in the Park will feature recreation programs, live music and local food trucks.

“We’re excited to join NRPA in recognizing the power of parks and recreation in the Fort Collins community,” said LeAnn Williams, director of Parks and Recreation at the City of Fort Collins. “Our community lives and breathes recreation and the outdoors, whether that’s participating in a summer sports league or enjoying a beautiful day in the park, and that’s what we’re here to celebrate this month.”

The city said more information and the full schedule of Parks and Recreation Month events are available on its recreation website. The event page also says the city is looking for volunteer youth sports coaches.
