Fort Collins police finish facility renovations for outreach teams

Fort Collins Police Services has completed renovations to part of its Timberline Road facility, converting previously unused detention space into a shared workspace for its Mental Health Response Team and Homeless Outreach and Proactive Engagement team.

The city said the new space is intended to improve coordination between the two teams as they provide outreach, crisis intervention and connections to services for residents. The project was first announced in January 2026 and was funded in part by The Woodward Charitable Trust, according to the city.

Chief Jeff Swoboda said the renovation was “an investment in our teams and our community” and said the space will allow the teams to collaborate while continuing to provide support across the city.

Construction began in February 2026 and was completed this spring without disrupting police operations, the city said. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated space was held June 1, 2026.
