Fort Collins joins regional Summer Moves challenge to promote alternative commuting
Fort Collins is joining communities across the North Front Range for the Summer Moves Regional Challenge, a month-long campaign from June 1 through June 30 aimed at reducing solo driving and encouraging residents and workers to use other transportation options.
According to the city, participants can walk, bike, roll, ride transit, carpool or vanpool instead of making trips they would normally drive. The challenge coincides with Summer Bike to Work Day on June 24.
Residents and workers can take part through the city’s Shift Your Ride Network, a free trip-logging and incentive platform. The city said people who log at least five trips during June will be entered into drawings for digital gift certificates worth up to $100.
To participate, residents can create a free Shift Your Ride Network account, optionally download the Commute Tracker app by RideAmigos, and begin logging trips June 1. The city said the challenge is a partnership among North Front Range communities working to reduce transportation-related air pollution.
The city’s 2025 Employee Travel Survey found that driving alone remains the most common way Fort Collins employees get to work, while 17% already use other options regularly, according to the release. For more information, the city directed residents to its Shift Your Ride page or the FC Moves department.
