City of Loveland Utilities is renewing its partnership with Resource Central, a conservation nonprofit, this spring to help residents replace traditional lawns with discounted, pre-planned "Garden In A Box" kits that can save more than 1,000 gallons of water annually per yard.

Outdoor irrigation dominates residential water consumption in the region. According to the Fort Collins–Loveland Water District, landscape irrigation accounts for approximately 62–64 percent of single-family household consumption.

The kits start at $132 with a $25 discount. Kits go on sale in March; residents can preview options now at ResourceCentral.org/Gardens.

According to the Loveland Water Efficiency Program 2024 Annual Report, "once established, Water-Wise landscaping can use 50–60% less water than a traditional lawn."

Resource Central is also offering free Waterwise Yard Seminars where experts cover garden design, plant selection, and irrigation tips. Residents can register at ResourceCentral.org/Seminars.
