Greeley Closes City Hall, Opens Temporary Location March 2
Greeley will close its City Hall at 1000 10th Street on Feb. 25, transitioning in-person services to a temporary location at 1200 11th Avenue starting March 2. The relocation is the first operational step in the Downtown Civic Campus Project, a pre-development initiative aimed at revitalizing Greeley's downtown core.
"City Hall is a place people have visited and relied on for many years," said Deputy City Manager Kelli Johnson in a Feb. 2 news release. "Our priority is making sure residents don't miss a single day of in-person service. While the location is changing, our commitment to accessible, reliable service for the community remains the same."
City Hall remains open through Feb. 24 for normal business and special election support. During the Feb. 25-27 transition, only the drive-through window at the current City Hall lot will operate. All city facilities close Feb. 28–March 1 before the new location opens March 2.
The city is planning public farewell events in late February at the current City Hall, including a main event Feb. 27 and walkthrough Feb. 28.
The new location will handle utility billing assistance, LIFT UP program applications, water payments, pet licensing, bus passes, and general city services. Residents can also call 970-351-5311 or visit GreeleyCO.gov.
Other city facilities remain unaffected. City Council will continue meeting at City Center South at 1001 11th Avenue.
The Downtown Civic Campus anchors downtown revitalization efforts around three of Greeley's largest employers. City Council has approved financing using Certificates of Participation—a municipal funding tool—to support future development. The project is currently in its pre-development phase.
"Our primary goal is providing a positive customer experience," said Erik Dial, Deputy Director of Utility Finance and Customer Service. "Whether residents are paying water bills, applying for LIFT UP, or using the billing portal, we want to make sure they can connect with us."
The city has not announced plans for the current City Hall building—whether it will be renovated, demolished, sold, or repurposed as part of the broader campus development.
