A weather graphic.

Thursday brings mostly sunny skies to Loveland with a high near 38 degrees and minimal precipitation chances at just 1 percent. Light east-northeast winds of 5 to 8 mph will keep conditions pleasant for outdoor activities. However, temperatures will drop significantly into the evening as a cold front approaches the region.

The weekend outlook shows a significant winter weather event developing. Snow will likely begin late Thursday night with a 30 percent chance, then increase Friday with a 70 percent chance of light snow throughout the day. Temperatures will plunge to just 17 degrees Friday with wind chills as low as minus 9 degrees. Additional snow is expected Friday night with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible. Saturday will see diminishing snow chances at 40 percent with highs near 13 degrees.

Conditions improve early next week as temperatures rebound dramatically. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high of 22 degrees. Monday turns much warmer, reaching 45 degrees under sunny skies, then Tuesday climbs to 47 degrees. The extended forecast shows continued pleasant conditions through Wednesday with highs near 47 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Residents should prepare for the snow event Friday and ensure travel preparations are made before conditions deteriorate.
