Aims Launches Free Tax Prep at Three Northern Colorado Campuses
Free tax preparation starts this month at Aims Community College's three Northern Colorado campuses for residents earning under $70,000. The service, available through mid-April at no cost, operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Last year, Aims assisted 1,990 taxpayers and helped them secure more than $4.9 million in federal and state refunds. About 40 percent of Weld County households and more than half of Greeley households earn under $70,000 annually, according to U.S. Census data, making Aims' free sites a critical resource in the region.
IRS-certified Aims students and community volunteers staff the Tax Help Colorado program. Services are available at three Northern Colorado locations:
- Greeley Campus (Cornerstone Building): Saturdays, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Feb. 7–April 11 (closed March 14 and 21 for Spring Break)
- Fort Lupton Campus (Prairie Building): Fridays, 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Feb. 6–March 6
- Loveland Campus: Thursdays, 4:30–8:30 p.m., Feb. 5–March 5
"In addition to providing community tax preparation services, Tax Help Colorado offers Aims students seeking careers in accounting and bookkeeping more training and experience before entering the workforce," according to Aims Community College.
Tax Help Colorado is a nonprofit organization funded by Mile High United Way and operates more than 35 sites across Colorado.
