PNC Completes FirstBank Acquisition; Northern Colorado Branches Convert This Summer
PNC Financial Services Group has completed its acquisition of Lakewood-based FirstBank, moving one of Colorado's last large independent banks onto a national platform. Customer accounts and branch operations across the northern Front Range convert to PNC's systems this summer, according to PNC's January 5 announcement.
The transaction reshapes everyday banking across Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley and surrounding towns, shifting a locally rooted institution into a national network.
Until conversion occurs this summer, FirstBank customers will continue banking through current branches, websites and apps, with PNC providing details ahead of the switch.
FirstBank branches across the region include locations at 100 S. College Avenue and other Fort Collins sites, 1352 W. Eisenhower Boulevard in Loveland, and offices in Greeley, Firestone and Windsor.
FirstBank CEO Kevin Classen said the transition preserves the bank's community commitment. "Joining PNC marks an exciting new chapter for FirstBank, our employees and the communities we serve. We are proud of our legacy and grateful for the trust our customers have placed in us. With PNC, we gain the scale and resources to expand what we offer, while staying committed to local service and community impact."
PNC Chairman and CEO William S. Demchak said the deal combines local relationships with national resources. "By combining FirstBank's strong local relationships with PNC's national capabilities, we're poised to deliver even greater opportunities for our customers and communities."
FirstBank, headquartered in Lakewood, reported $26.8 billion in assets as of June 30, 2025.
According to Federal Reserve Board approval documents, FirstBank held 6.7 percent of Weld County deposits before the merger. Combined with PNC's minimal pre-merger presence, the merged bank will control 7.3 percent of Weld deposits. The Federal Reserve Board determined the merger does not significantly reduce local competition.
The Federal Reserve's analysis identified FirstBank as the fifth-largest depository institution in Weld County prior to the merger, while PNC ranked 21st. The combined firm remains fifth-largest.
