Zero Homes announced Jan. 2 that it is now serving homeowners throughout Colorado to help them access the newly launched Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program and install heat pump systems that lower energy costs. The Denver-based startup is positioning itself as a key private-sector navigator for the rebate rollout, potentially influencing how quickly homeowners across Colorado—especially in smaller cities and rural areas—access the new funds.

"Coloradans want access to clean-energy technology to save money, and these rebates will help accomplish that," said Governor Jared Polis when the program launched. "These rebates can help more Coloradans make a variety of home upgrades that will bring down energy costs and provide more efficient home heating and cooling."

The Home Energy Rebate Program, backed by federal Inflation Reduction Act funds, allocated roughly $140 million to Colorado, split between $70,395,350 for performance-based whole-house rebates and $69,985,890 for high-efficiency electric home rebates, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The Colorado Energy Office also plans to release an additional $56 million for a companion Home Efficiency Rebate program in early 2026, targeting multifamily buildings and manufactured homes.

Zero Homes verifies income eligibility—including households at 80 percent and 150 percent Area Median Income levels—and guides homeowners through applications. It also arranges heat pump installations, including cold-climate and ductless systems, and identifies complementary utility incentives, state tax credits, and federal benefits to maximize household savings. Rebates cap at $14,000 per household—cold-climate heat pumps up to $8,000, standard heat pumps up to $3,000, heat pump water heaters up to $1,750, and electrical panel upgrades up to $4,000.

"Colorado's new Home Energy Rebate Program is one of the most significant opportunities for homeowners to improve their homes, cut energy cost and emissions, and adopt cleaner technologies," Zero Homes said in announcing the expansion. "Zero Homes is committed to making this process as straightforward as possible—from understanding eligibility to completing installation—for homeowners no matter where they live in the state."

The rebate program is available immediately for eligible single-family and manufactured homes. Additional components for small multifamily buildings launch in early 2026. More details on eligibility and application are available at energyoffice.colorado.gov/home-energy-rebates.
