Loveland Resident Named to Board Overseeing Colorado's State and Veterans Nursing Homes
Bruce Odenthal of Loveland has been appointed to Colorado's Board of Commissioners of Veterans Community Living Centers, which oversees five state-run nursing homes serving Northern Colorado veterans and their families. According to the Dec. 31 Governor's Office announcement, his term runs through July 1, 2029.
His appointment gives Larimer County direct representation on a board responsible for facilities that serve local veterans, including centers in Aurora and Rifle. The appointment comes as long-term care facilities statewide continue managing post-pandemic staffing and funding pressures.
The board guides operations at Veterans Community Living Centers in Florence, Rifle, and Aurora, plus a state nursing home in Trinidad and a veterans center in Monte Vista. According to the Governor's Office, the board advises the Colorado Division of Veterans Nursing Homes on budgets, staffing, quality-of-care standards, and administrative direction for the facilities.
According to the Governor's Office, Odenthal was selected for his "expertise in nursing home operations and experience in multi-facility management of nursing homes." The board ensures continuity and stability in operations and guides future administrators at the five facilities.
According to his professional profile, Odenthal has approximately 24 years of experience in long-term care operations. His background includes integrating acquired facilities, implementing policies across multi-facility operations, and leading technology implementation across nursing home systems.
