Windsor Teen Remains Missing One Year After Disappearance in Northern Colorado

The Town of Windsor Police Department marked one year since 15-year-old Janika Sierra was reported missing, announcing October 29 that she was last seen in Windsor in October 2024 and has since been spotted in several locations across Northern Colorado.

Janika, born July 26, 2009, has now been missing throughout 2025 with multiple unconfirmed sightings in the region but no confirmed recovery. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office amplified Windsor Police's appeal for public assistance, asking residents who have information about Janika's whereabouts or recent locations to contact Windsor Police at 970-674-6400.

Windsor Police did not release additional details about the circumstances of Janika's disappearance or the specific Northern Colorado locations where she has reportedly been seen.

Colorado Averages 29 Missing Children Reports Daily

Approximately 29 children are reported missing every 24 hours in Colorado, with the majority classified as runaways, according to the Colorado Missing Children Project. Generally, about 70 percent of missing persons are found or return within 48 to 72 hours.

When a minor is reported missing in Colorado, the first responding officer conducts a thorough investigation including interviews with the reporting party, obtaining detailed descriptions and verifying custody status. Cases are entered into the National Crime Information Center to facilitate national coordination.

During ongoing missing persons investigations, law enforcement agencies document regular efforts to locate the missing person at least every 30 days, according to Colorado law enforcement guidelines. High-risk cases are identified and escalated promptly based on risk assessment.
