The Larimer County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing at a Wellington hotel October 15, with the victim transported to a hospital for treatment and expected to recover.

Deputies responded to the incident shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. All individuals involved are adults, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators quickly located those connected to the incident and took the suspect into custody. The sheriff's office did not release the identities of the suspect or victim, nor did it disclose the specific hotel location where the stabbing occurred.

"Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident," the sheriff's office stated. "There's no indication of any threat to public safety at this time."

Investigation Continues at Scene

Law enforcement maintained a presence at the scene through the evening hours as investigators gathered evidence and processed the location. The sheriff's office indicated that residents and visitors could expect to see continued law enforcement activity related to the investigation.

The agency's Victim Response Team, which provides 24-hour services to crime victims throughout Larimer County, was available to assist those affected by the incident.

UCHealth and other emergency medical services transported the victim to an area hospital. The sheriff's office did not provide details about the nature or severity of the injuries beyond confirming the victim is expected to recover.

Multi-Agency Resources Support Investigation

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office maintains investigative capabilities across its service area, which includes unincorporated portions of the county and communities like Wellington that contract for law enforcement services.

The agency works in coordination with the Northern Colorado Regional Forensic Laboratory, which serves both Larimer and Weld Counties and provides evidence processing capabilities for criminal investigations.

The sheriff's office stated it will release additional information about the incident once it becomes available. Investigations involving violent crimes typically require extensive evidence collection, witness interviews, and coordination with the Larimer County District Attorney's Office before formal charges are filed.

Wellington is located in northern Larimer County approximately 10 miles north of Fort Collins along Interstate 25.
