Loveland council sets Aug. 24 budget workshop
Loveland City Council will hold its annual budget workshop Aug. 24 at the Police and Courts Building, 810 E. 10th St., the city said in a news release. The workshop will be the first public discussion of the proposed 2027 city budget.
The city’s release said the workshop begins at 9 a.m., while the City Council study session agenda sets it from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The agenda memo says the session will present the city’s current and future financial forecasts leading to the 2027 draft proposed budget.
According to city materials, the draft 2027 budget assumes moderate revenue growth and forecasts $135.6 million in revenue from sales tax, property tax and other sources. Proposed General Fund expenditures total about $141.1 million, a 5% increase from the 2026 adopted budget, and include employee pay adjustments plus investments in public safety, staffing, legal services, technology and cybersecurity.
The draft materials show about $2.6 million in General Fund capital projects, including $2 million for annual facilities major maintenance, $400,000 for Mehaffey Park playground safety improvements, $120,000 for VoIP replacement, $41,973 for a police fingerprinting system and $34,500 for a police vehicular forensics system. They also show the proposed General Fund ending 2027 with $2.44 million in unassigned fund balance before a $1.5 million target reserve, leaving $940,203 remaining.
The city said the proposed budget maintains current operating service levels and does not include additional service cuts. The Budget Workshop agenda and packet are posted on CivicWeb, according to the release.
