Larimer County commissioners’ July 13 meeting: data center moratorium extended, rubbish ordinance rewrite advances

The Larimer County Board of County Commissioners used its Monday, July 13 meeting to act on several land-use matters while also moving forward a county ordinance update. The broadest immediate action was extending the county’s temporary data center moratorium through Feb. 25, 2027 as staff continues drafting permanent land-use rules for that use in unincorporated Larimer County.

Commissioners also approved four public hearing consent land-use items in a single 3-0 vote. That package included the data center moratorium extension, the Bartel easement vacation in Bellvue, the Meadows at Prospect Storage appeals near Fort Collins and the Klawiter appeal in west Loveland.

Within that consent agenda, the board separately approved the Meadows at Prospect Storage appeals, clearing three code deviations for the proposed RV-and-boat storage project at 1700 SE Frontage Rd. in Fort Collins, subject to staff-recommended conditions. In another land-use action, commissioners also approved the Acott amended plat, boundary line adjustment and partial Sunny Drive right-of-way vacation, allowing four parcels near West County Road 38E and Sunny Drive to be reconfigured from four lots to three.

Outside the land-use consent items, commissioners gave first reading to a proposed rewrite of the county’s rubbish ordinance, an update staff said would align county rules with new state law before returning for a second reading on Aug. 10.
