Larimer County commissioners’ July 14 meeting: 911 resiliency update leads a brief agenda

At the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners’ meeting on July 14, county business was brief but included a broader look at emergency communications, as Commissioner John Kefalas relayed a 911 update centered on system resiliency, alongside routine board approvals.

Kefalas said a Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority update highlighted completed Estes Park fiber ring upgrades and other 911 system improvements, including a backup emergency alerting system, near-complete regional radio console upgrades, expanding video and language tools for 911 calls, and proposed Starlink-backed routing and direct-to-cell satellite service.

The board also handled routine administrative business, voting to approve the minutes for the week of July 6. Commissioner Kristin Stephens made the motion, and the item passed without discussion.

Commissioners then approved the July 14 consent agenda in a single vote, advancing a package of routine agreements, licenses, development matters and tax stipulations after no one asked to pull an item for separate discussion.
