Timnath Reservoir opens for temporary public fishing
Timnath Reservoir will temporarily open to anglers starting July 13 under an emergency public salvage authorization issued by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Town of Timnath said.
The temporary fishing opportunity is intended to help reduce fish loss as water levels decline and to limit the impact of a possible fish kill later in the season. Under the authorization, bag and possession limits at the reservoir are suspended.
Fishing will be allowed daily from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., or until dusk, whichever comes first. The town said anglers must have a valid Colorado fishing license and may fish only from shore or non-motorized watercraft. Commercial angling is prohibited, and it is illegal to capture and transport live fish from Timnath Reservoir to another body of water.
The town also said shore permits and non-motorized watercraft permits are temporarily waived for anglers during the salvage opening. Access is being directed through the main entrance, with parking in designated areas.
The temporary opening will remain in effect until Colorado Parks and Wildlife determines it is no longer needed, according to the town.
