Greeley invites residents to weigh in on Safe Streets for All projects
The City of Greeley is inviting residents to attend upcoming community pop-up events to learn about proposed street safety improvements and share feedback on the Safe Streets for All program.
Community members can view proposed projects, ask questions and provide input at events scheduled for Thursday, July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Greeley Family FunPlex Concert Series and Friday, July 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Friday Fest. The city also said another pop-up is planned at Big Boy Train, though the supplied materials list different dates for that event.
According to the city, some proposed improvements may involve trade-offs, including reduced on-street parking. Officials are encouraging residents to learn more about the projects and share their perspectives during the engagement process.
The Safe Streets for All program is a federal initiative that helps communities reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries through data-driven planning and targeted infrastructure improvements, the city said. Greeley said the program supports its Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries for people who drive, walk, bike and use transit.
The program is largely funded through federal grants, according to the city. Greeley received a $7.9 million federal grant, matched with $1.979 million from the city’s Transportation Development Fund, and planned improvements will use a quick-build approach that allows safety features to be installed more quickly, evaluated and adjusted if needed.
