Loveland renames unified cultural, library and parks department
The City of Loveland has given its unified cultural services, library and parks and recreation functions a new name: the Community Placemaking Department.
The name was introduced at City Council on Tuesday night, according to the city’s news release. The department covers golf, the museum, the library, the theater, open lands and trails, public art, parks and recreation services.
Kara Kish, the department director, said the name reflects the city’s commitment to “Providing Lifelong Access to Connections and Experiences.” She said the department is intended to work as “One City, One Team” and to coordinate services more effectively.
The city said the new name follows a strategic alignment announced earlier this year that unified programs and services from Library, Cultural Services and Parks & Recreation into one department. The release said Loveland residents gave high marks for local open space amenities and cultural, arts and music opportunities in the 2024 National Community Survey.
