Loveland police arrest former jiu-jitsu instructor in child sex assault investigation
Loveland police arrested a former jiu-jitsu instructor Friday, July 3, on an arrest warrant tied to an investigation into multiple allegations of sexual assault involving two juveniles, according to a city news release posted Monday.
Police said 29-year-old Alexander Hawkeye Martinez was booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of sexual assault on a child in a position of trust and aggravated sex offense sentence enhancers. He was being held on $200,000 cash-only bond with pretrial restrictions, according to the release.
The investigation began after the victims came forward and disclosed the abuse, police said. Martinez and the victims knew each other, and the alleged offenses occurred while Martinez served in a caregiving role.
Martinez previously worked as an instructor at Infinite Jiu-Jitsu Academy at 329 E. 3rd Street in Loveland and also goes by the nickname “X,” according to police. Investigators said they believe additional victims may exist and asked anyone with information about similar incidents to contact the Loveland Police Department Tip Line or Larimer County Crime Stoppers.
Lt. Heather Moore of the Criminal Investigations Division said, “The courage displayed by these young victims cannot be overstated.” She added that their willingness to speak up made the investigation possible and thanked investigators and the District Attorney's Office for their partnership and support.
