Estes Park board approves liquor license for Historic Craig’s Lodge

The Estes Park Town Board, sitting as the Liquor Licensing Authority, voted Tuesday to approve a new hotel-and-restaurant liquor license for Historic Craig’s Lodge at 300 Riverside Drive. The approval under Resolution 78-26 allows Craig’s Lodge FBS LLC, doing business as Historic Craig’s Lodge, to seek concurrent local and state review so the business can move through licensing more quickly.

Town Clerk Frank Lancaster told the board the property previously held a liquor license for the View Restaurant, but that license expired in 2025. He said the new application was filed May 13, the review area for the application was set at 3.85 miles, and all town fees and hearing costs had been collected. Lancaster also said the property’s accommodation zoning allows the proposed licensed use.

An applicant representative, Augustine Lovario, told the board he was scheduled to complete responsible vendor training at 10 a.m. Tuesday. During the hearing, no one came forward in opposition to the application, and Lancaster said the town had received no communications regarding it.

Asked about plans for the property, Lovario said Vivame Hospitality purchased Craig’s Lodge and intends to remodel it in the future. For now, he said, the company is focused on getting through the summer season and completing a feasibility study before moving ahead with larger changes.

Mayor Gary Hall closed the public hearing before the board approved the resolution and moved on to the next licensing case.
