Peak Transit to add four routes July 1
Daily service on all five of The Peak transit routes in Estes Park will begin July 1, the town said in a news release.
The town’s free transit system started its summer season May 22 with the Red Route running daily. On July 1, the Blue, Brown, Gold and Silver routes will begin daily service at 9 a.m., with final trips starting at 8:30 p.m., according to the release.
The Red Route runs every day of the paid parking season from May 22 through Oct. 18, with continuous service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The other routes will run daily through Aug. 31, then switch to weekend-only service on Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 5 through Sept. 27.
The Peak is fare-free and all routes are wheelchair accessible. Some buses also have bicycle racks, the town said. The 2026 season marks the 21st year of town transit service.
The service is funded through federal and state grants, the town’s paid parking program, the town general fund and local sponsors. Riders who need extra assistance, including seniors and people with disabilities, can request service for stops within three-quarters of a mile of an existing stop. Requests can be made 24 hours in advance or scheduled up to seven days ahead by calling 970-577-3959.
