Loveland police arrest Colorado State Patrol trooper on sexual assault charges
Loveland police say they arrested a 34-year-old Colorado State Patrol trooper after receiving a report of alleged sexual assault dating back to 2024.
According to a city news release, the report came in on June 15, 2026, from a victim who said the suspect was Jeremiah Jon Patterson. Police said the victim and Patterson know each other and that the reported crimes occurred while Patterson was off duty.
Investigators said they received information on June 19 suggesting Patterson might travel to Loveland to locate the victim. Police said they used investigative techniques, including Flock Safety camera technology, to find Patterson and conduct a high-risk traffic stop based on probable cause. Patterson was taken into custody, interviewed and booked into the Larimer County Jail.
The jail listed charges of sexual assault, strongarm by force, and second-degree assault, strangulation. The release said additional enhancement charges also applied. Magistrate Ryan set bond at $25,000 cash surety with pre-trial restrictions, according to the city.
Chief Doran said in the release that he commended the victim for coming forward and praised investigators, the district attorney’s office and the Colorado State Patrol. The police department asked anyone with information about similar incidents involving Patterson to contact its tip line or Larimer County Crime Stoppers.
