Greeley council approves consent agenda after pulling May 19 minutes for revision
The Greeley City Council voted Tuesday to approve the rest of its consent agenda 6-0 after removing the May 19 meeting minutes from the package. The action left in place approval of the May 26 work session minutes and all other consent items, including contracts, intergovernmental agreements, four housing-bond intent resolutions and first reading of the firefighters union ordinance.
Before the vote, city staff asked council to modify Item 9 in response to comments from resident Tiffany Simmons and a request from Mayor Dale Hall. Staff recommended approving only the May 26 minutes and bringing the May 19 minutes back at a later meeting.
Hall asked whether any council members wanted to pull other consent items, and none did. Ward IV Council Member Brian Rudy then moved to approve the consent agenda with the May 19 minutes excluded for correction, and Mayor Pro Tem Melissa McDonald seconded the motion.
The consent block covered Items 10 through 18 in addition to the minutes item. Those items included a consulting contract with Martin and Wood Water Consultants for legal and engineering services, a professional services contract with RS&H Inc. for design work on the Merge Project, and intergovernmental agreements tied to the U.S. 34 and Weld County Road 17 interchange review process and improvements at the Greeley-Weld County Airport.
It also included four resolutions declaring the city’s intent to issue tax-exempt multifamily housing revenue bonds or other revenue bonds for the Prairie Rose Rehab Project, the Hope Springs Project, the Island Grove Village Apartments project and other residential facilities for low- and middle-income families or persons. The final consent item introduced an ordinance ratifying and adopting the collective bargaining agreement with Greeley Firefighters Union Local 888 for a term running from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2028, with a public hearing and second reading scheduled for July 7.
