Northern Colorado partners set celebration for completed Poudre River Trail connection
Northern Colorado agency partners will hold a public celebration Saturday, June 13, to mark the final connection of the Poudre River Trail, according to the Town of Timnath.
The event, called “Connecting Communities – The Poudre River Trail Celebration,” will recognize the completion of 45 miles of continuous, paved, multi-use trail from Bellvue west of Fort Collins to Greeley. Officials said the project reflects more than 50 years of vision, collaboration and investment by local governments, agencies, funders and community partners.
The celebration will begin at 9 a.m. at Timnath Community Park, 5500 Summerfields Pkwy., with official remarks and a ceremony. Instead of a ribbon-cutting, partner organizations and local dignitaries will symbolically connect ribbon pieces to represent the communities and collaborators involved in the trail.
A community celebration will follow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include partner booths, family-friendly activities, food trucks and opportunities for residents and trail users to mark the trail’s final connection between Larimer and Weld counties. Signage and photo opportunities also will be available at Lions Open Space in Laport and Island Grove in Greeley.
The event is being organized by Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins, the Town of Windsor, the Town of Timnath and the City of Greeley, with support from Great Outdoors Colorado, the Colorado Lottery and the Friends of Larimer County.
