Loveland outlines early 2027 budget outlook at council retreat

Loveland city staff gave City Council an early look at the city’s financial outlook during the April council retreat as planning began for the 2027 budget, according to a city news release.

The city said most funds are in good shape, but the general fund has limited flexibility because street and facility maintenance needs continue to outpace available funding. Public Works has identified millions of dollars in critical facility projects and rising costs tied to aging roads, the release said.

The city said delaying maintenance tends to make repairs more expensive over time. To stay financially stable long term, officials said the city will continue reviewing possible revenue sources and service level adjustments based on community needs.

Budget discussions will continue, including an August City Council workshop that will help guide future planning.

The city said the 2026 budget and previously approved budgets are posted on its budget page, and residents can follow updates on the city’s budget website.
