Loveland highlights current and upcoming capital projects
Loveland is pointing to a slate of current and upcoming capital improvement projects it says are aimed at improving roads, utilities, intersections and public spaces across the city.
In a June 1 news release, the city highlighted work at Thompson Park, where upgrades at 4th Street and north Lincoln Avenue are planned to add seating, lighting, infrastructure and safety features for events and everyday use. The city also cited the US 34 widening project, which includes a new sidewalk on the north side of the road between McWhinney Boulevard and Fall River Drive, a third westbound lane and lane adjustments to make room for a dedicated bus lane at traffic signals.
Other projects listed by the city include Boise Avenue crossing improvements at 16th Street, 19th Street and Silver Leaf Drive, where median islands, pedestrian signals and curb extensions are planned; a new traffic signal at Washington Avenue and 1st Street; and work at the Water Reclamation Facility to improve the biological nutrient removal system, expand treatment capacity and add ultraviolet disinfection equipment.
The city also said it is removing overhead power lines and relocating them underground in Painter’s Alley, between 3rd and 4th streets and Cleveland and Railroad avenues, to address aging infrastructure and safety conditions. The release said the projects are intended to support safety, sustainability and quality of life, and said construction may bring temporary impacts while the city works to maintain infrastructure and services.
