Fort Collins announces Fourth of July schedule with music, history displays and fireworks

The City of Fort Collins will host its Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4, with activities that include music, a 5K race, food trucks, family events and fireworks over Sheldon Lake in City Park, according to a city news release.

The city said this year’s event will also mark America’s 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th anniversary with a “Walk Through History” display in City Park. The display, curated by local organizations, will include a Field of Honor with the Breakfast Rotary Club, historical reenactors, a Liberty 250 exhibit and other interactive activities.

The event lineup begins at 7:30 a.m. with the FireKracker 5K and Stars and Stripes Golf Tournament. Other scheduled activities include Elevations Credit Union’s Family Fun Zone from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Touch-A-Truck and the history display from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., food trucks from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., special hours at City Park Pool from noon to 4 p.m., trolley rides from noon to 5 p.m. and live music from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. by The Robin Lewis Band, Salsa Forte and The Pamlico Sound.

The celebration is set to end with fireworks at 9:35 p.m. The city said residents living near City Park should expect parking impacts and road closures throughout the day. It also said text alerts for event updates are available by texting “FoCo4th” to 888-777, and day-of weather or schedule changes will be posted online and on the Parks & Recreation social media accounts.
